Maverick and Korbyn are only five days apart and they used to be our neighbors but now they've moved away :( He had his birthday party the day after Korbyn's actual birthday. I took three of my nieces and nephews along, they are good friends with them too. It was just me that had them and Korbyn, Colton was helping my dad but came out a little later. I never mind when they tag along though because the oldest one, Kaylene (in the picture) who is eleven, is such a big help! And Korbyn absolutely adores her. Every time Korbyn sees her she starts squealing and sticks her arms out for her.
The party was pre-walking, so we took her walker with us to keep her entertained.
Maverick got this awesome fire truck as a gift and they let Korbyn ride around on it during the party. I LOVE this thing! It has the button that makes it go on the steering wheel, not a pedal that they have to push. And then when you let the button go it automatically stops...awesome! She was able to figure it out pretty quick but you can definitely tell in the video when she pushes it and then lets go.

New kid
I feel like ever since her birthday we have this new kid in our house. It's just so weird how almost over night they can change! Korbyn is now a pro at walking. She can even stand up now from crawling, where before she had to crawl to something to pull herself up on.
Two weeks ago we went to San Saba and we brought along her walker that she got for her birthday. We got there Friday evening and usually leave on Sunday. It was like a switch went off! Right after lunch on Saturday she just took off on her own! Ever since then she's unstoppable :)
She can even walk while drinking her sippy cup...pretty advanced, I know!
Ohhhh her toothbrush. Ever since she got her two bottom teeth we brush them every morning and every evening and she can't wait to do it! Even if she sees her toothbrush on the counter she wants to put it in her mouth. The only problem is she now wants to walk around with it in her mouth. Sorry kid, not happening. I can just imagine that thing lodged in her throat when she falls down on it.
She's also gaining personality and attitude with every day. We got these cute headbands for her birthday and she grabbed them off the table (yes, OFF the table) and brought them both to me to put them on her and she insisted that she wear both of them and just continued to play with them on her head.
And her new favorite thing is suckers. She wants to hold them all by herself without any help. Unfortunately for her we'll only let her have them when she's sitting with us.
I was thinking the other day that it must be innate in all children to push their limits and be defiant to some degree. Korbyn has somehow picked up on these things already! We have a night light in our living room that she loves to pull out of the socket just because we tell her not to. Colton was on one couch, I was on the other (behind her) and she kept going over to it and wanting to pull it out. We tell her no and then if she does it again we'll go move her away and if she goes back then she gets a little pop on the hand. Well that night she was standing right in front of it, not touching it, but just smiling at Colton. He told her don't touch it and walked into the kitchen. This little fart watched him walk out of the living room and as soon as he turned the corner she went to grab it. I guess she didn't know I was behind her because I was watching her and as soon as she went for it I said "Korbyn, NO!" and she jumped and just walked away from it like "what? I didn't do anything!" She's also started to "run" away from us. If I see her pick up something that she's not supposed to and she knows that I'm coming to take it away from her, she'll giggle and turn and try to walk away as fast as she can to get away from us! Where do they learn these things?!

Last of Halloween pics
I know it's been a while since I've posted, but I've been holding off on purpose this time. I had our blog turned into a book! And I wanted to wait because I didn't know how long they would take to put it all together and I selected "all posts" and I wanted the last post in the book to be about Korbyn's first birthday. I'm hoping to do that every year as a baby book per say. So the first book has from when we found out we were having a girl up until her first birthday and the next one will have this as the first post up until her second birthday and so on. I'm so excited to get it in!!!
Korbyn is loving her new classroom! This actually isn't her room that she's in but it was the first day that she got moved up (halloween) and the two classes were combined for breakfast. Korbyn's a big girl and yet she looks so tiny compared to all of them. Actually the little girl in the purple is the closest in age to her and they're five months apart, so Korbyn is by far the youngest for now.
This is later when they had their class parties. There was no way I was going to make her wear her costume all day, so we changed into it later even though she probably would have been perfectly happy in it.
This was right before we went trick or treating. Which by the way is a complete NIGHTMARE! We went to the popular part of town where it's a nice neighborhood and it's a big loop so everyone parks a few blocks away and walks around. We really only went over there because I had promised Sam that we would stop by, and of course she would happen to live in that neighborhood. It is absolutely chaos! I didn't grow up in town so I had no idea how trick or treating really went down. There are people everywhere. Our mistake was that we tried to drive through everyone. Don't worry we weren't the only idiots that did that. I was so terrified that a kid was going to run out in front of me that we were barely even moving. We had talked to someone who was familiar with the area and they said that one year they had actually shut down traffic to that area (which I think is smart) because it gets so crazy. They also said that they can easily pass out over 500 goody bags in a couple of hours! We'll know better for next year :)
I had to throw this picture in because it just makes me giggle. The morning after her party Korbyn and I went into her room and decided to re-open all of her gifts :) I threw the hat and sunglasses on her just for laughs right when we started and an hour later she still had them on! She wore them the entire time we were going through all of her things and she loved it!

Happy Birthday!
Friday was Korbyn's first birthday!!! We had a birthday party for her at our house the weekend of the 29th, we made it a costume party since it was so close to hallowen. The reason we didn't do it this weekend, which is closer to her actual birthday, is because it's opening weekend of deer season...I know that might not sound like a big deal but to our families and friends it is!
We could not have asked for a more perfect day. The weather was beautiful, everyone had a great time, and most importantly Korbyn was absolutely perfect :) The party started at 4 p.m. so I wanted to make sure she was well rested, so she got two naps and woke up right at 4 and was in the best mood. In fact, she stayed in that great mood until 10:30 that night, woohoo Korbyn!!!
Korbyn was a bat for her party and for halloween and I was so proud of her for keeping it on. She really didn't have a problem with it on at all! I ordered it online several months ago and I'm glad I did because I had to make some adjustments to the headpiece. In the picture it showed a baby about her size and of course it looks perfect, well when I tried it on her it was way too big, it almost looked like it was made for an adult. But my sewing machine was put to good use once again as I made it a perfect fit for my lil' bat :)
Way more people dressed up than I thought actually would. I would love to make this a tradition and continue to do this every year for her birthday (costume/birthday party), but we'll have to see, it cost a pretty penny to put a party on these days!
Four generations of beautiful ladies :) Korbyn, me, my mom and her mom.
At least I got him to put on some kind of costume. Colton was pretty hesitant about the party, I think it's just because he gets shy and was worried nobody would dress up and I would be disappointed. But after he saw how much fun everyone was having I'm sure he'll be ready to do it again next year!
After the party Colton and I were going through the pictures and when we got to this one he said "who's that?!" I laughed and said that's Lois! (my sister-in-law) These are actually both of my sister-in-laws. When they got there Lois was dressed in normal clothes and I went up to her and jokingly asked her where her costume was and she pulled me aside and said "shhh...don't draw any attention to me because I'm going to dress up as something later and I don't want people to know it's me!" So a couple of hours later Lois is nowhere to be found but this gorilla who doesn't talk is just mingling with everyone. It was absolutely hilarious!!! She would just come up behind people and not say anything and scare the crap out of them when they finally realized she was there. In fact, I'm not sure if Katie knows that she's even behind her when I took this picture haha!
I have to admit, this party would have been nothing without the help of my parents and Colton's mom and step-dad. They were such a huge help with all the decorations and setting up. My mom did an amazing job on Korbyn's cakes too. And yes, the big jack-o-lantern is all edible and it was DELICIOUS!
I can't believe my beautiful little girl is a year old. Korbyn, I'm so proud of the little person you have become and I can't wait to experience many more birthdays with you...happy birthday baby :)
