Spring Break - The lake

Friday through Sunday we were out camping with friends at the lake.  I wish we could go camping every weekend!  And Korbyn was excellent!  I think she wishes she could go all the time too.
There were quite a few of us that were all camping together and the two campers were at two spots right next to each other with a huge space in between for the kids to run around in, it was so perfect.
She had a blast the entire weekend just being outside and being in the dirt.

The poor girl is SO fair.  I had to slather her in sunscreen the moment she woke up and then again around lunch and she still would get red!

One of our friends has (or had, she gave it away by the time we were done camping) a pet piglet!  It was really cute and acted just like a dog.  It kept trying to nuzzle up next to the other dogs.  Here it's trying to lay on Pixie, she was fine for a few seconds then didn't want that thing near her.
And she finally got to go out on the boat!  This was her first time so I was pretty nervous.  She absolutely loved it.  She fell asleep about 10 minutes into the ride and slept for about 30 minutes but then when she woke up we had made our way back into the creeks so Colton could fish and so she was able to walk around and look at the water.  The only bad thing is that dang life jacket.  There was no way I was going to take it off of her, even when she fell asleep she had to find a way to get comfortable in it because it was not coming off.  She is still under the weight limit for it, but it's made to keep their head up so it just looks like it's choking her, but she never once seemed to mind it.

We had a pretty fun spring break, it just went by way too fast!

Spring Break - The Zoo

Every spring break my mom takes all the grand kids on a little trip.  This year we went to the San Antonio zoo.  We went Monday and it was so packed!  My mom called in advance to check what would probably be the slowest day during the week and the man told her that it didn't matter which day we came during spring break, the zoo was expecting to see at least 19,000 people per day!!!  We left my mom's house around 7 a.m. and didn't get back until after 7 p.m.  It was a very long day but was SO worth it.

The crew minus Clay, he didn't want to be in the picture :)  It turned out to be a pretty warm day, but was perfect zoo weather.
She really enjoyed seeing the animals which kind of surprised me.  I figured she really wouldn't be able to get that much out of it yet but she had a blast!
My favorite part of the zoo was the area specially designed for kids five and under.  They had a petting zoo area with pigs and goats where you could feed them and brush them.  Korbyn just kept following this pig around but wouldn't go pet it.
They also had an indoor "exploration" area.  As soon as we walked in Korbyn immediately ran to the play area and started playing like she was on her home turf, I think it looked a lot like daycare so she loved it.
Then they had this make shift "boat" for the kids to walk on.  I have to say I was pretty embarrassed when we got on here.  When we walked up to it I saw a couple of other kids on it and they were trying to make it sway a little bit, so Korbyn and I walked onto it and I was trying to rock it really hard (it couldn't rock that much) and Korbyn was just holding onto the side and we were both cracking up.  Just then a zoo worker walked up and said, in a very loud voice, "ma'am!  You need to stop rocking the boat so hard, this is just for kids to feel the movement!"  I've never been so embarrassed! I'm not a rule breaker so I was mortified!  I immediately apologized and pulled Korbyn off pretty quick.
They had an outdoor play are with a fake hollow log and she kept trying to peek at the other people crawling through but wouldn't go in it herself.  I've noticed she's not really fond of playing in things like that.  A while back her teacher brought in a big, empty cardboard box for her class to play with and Korbyn was the only one who refused to go inside of it.  She's probably going to be extremely claustrophobic!

There's miss photogenic :)

Addy's Party

This past weekend we went to Katy for cousin Addy's fourth birthday party.  She had a princess party and even Belle and the beast were there!

Thankfully memaw and papaw bought Korbyn a princess dress that was her size because I had no luck in finding one for her.  I brought shoes to go with it but decided the ones she had one made the outfit more "Korbyn."  The feather boa unfortunately didn't come with the outfit, it was Belle's that she brought along and Korbyn decided that she looked better in it!

It was really cute to see all the little princesses paying so much attention to Belle.  As you can see Korbyn kept a safe distance :)
She read them a story, showed them how princesses dance and curtsy, played games, and even put makeup on each one.  It was a really fun and cute party!

This is when they were acting like princess Sleeping Beauty.

And her favorite spot of the afternoon...memaw's lap :)

Lovely weather

Spring is definitely in the air!  I love this weather!  We've been soaking up as much as we can before it turns unbearably hot this summer.  Colton got off early one day after work so we decided to go down to my mom and dad's and fish for a little bit.  Really it was Colton fishing and me following Korbyn around, fine with me :)  I think this girl is going to have something with rocks.  All she wants to do anytime we're around them is pick them up, look at them, and hold them.  And if you take it away or tell her to put it down she throws a fit.  I'm sure all kids this age are fascinated with rocks, it's just really funny.

I figured Korbyn would be really excited to see the fish that daddy caught, nope.  She didn't even want to get near it.  In fact the first picture is of her looking at a fish Colton was holding.  We tried to get a picture of her next to it, but that wasn't happening.  Daddy let her reel the line in a few times and she did enjoy that though.  Hopefully she'll enjoy fishing as much as he does.
My nephew picked these pretty wildflowers just for me :)  I decided to put them in a vase and show them off on our front porch.
Sometimes she can crack me up so fast.  The other day I come back into the kitchen to find her going through my pots and pans (imagine that) and she was sitting in the grill basket, which is where I keep my lids, and trying to play with everything while staying seated!

At school Sam and I have been taking her class out to their small playground.  This is the first time that I've gotten to see Korbyn play on actual play equipment.  She LOVES it!  We're going to have to start shopping around for something just like the one in the picture because I couldn't get her off of it.  I had to show her a couple of times how to go up the steps, sit down, then slide but eventually she got the complete hang of it and was going up and down over and over.  Can't wait until she gets one of her own.

Miss Independent

Korbyn has become quite independent lately.  She always wants to do everything by herself then if she needs help she'll let you know.  After coming home from school one day she grabbed my lunchbox and started putting all her things in it and carrying it around like a purse.
Then she grabbed her baby and tried to put it in as well.  I could see she was having a hard time with it so I tried to help her, oh no!  It took her probably five minutes turning it this way and that until she got that baby in that bag, but she got it.  She seems very determined and persistent all the time!

And then every time I load or unload the dishwasher she's right there trying to help me.  I let her help me as much as she can because I don't want to discourage her from doing it, so she'll hand me a plate or two and that's about all she can do.  The only thing I don't let her mess with is the silverware holder, so of course that's the one thing that she's always going to!  The pictures are blurry but that's about 90% of what my pictures look like when I take them of this quick rascal.  She's trying to hand me some of her snack, or "nack" as she likes to call it.

And now with any type of food you have to let her hold it, no more breaking off pieces and handing them to her or holding it and letting her have a bite.  In fact she'll often throw a mini temper tantrum when I won't let her hold certain things.  She knows that I keep bananas on the counter in a bowl so almost every morning she'll walk over and point up at the counter and say "nana!" and I have to peel it just a little and let her hold it.  I have to say, she does surprisingly well.  I have to keep an eye on her though because she'll nibble it all the way down and start biting at the peel so I have to tell her "let mommy fix it" and she'll then hand it to me.
