Daddy's girl

Every day when we pull up in the driveway she looks out of her window and says "home!  Daddy?!"  They have become so close here lately!  She of course is an ultimate mamma's girl ;) but no doubt about it loves her daddy very much.
We were at my parents one evening and she loves to jump on the trampoline, as best as she can actually "jump."  So daddy and Korbyn both decided to jump together, which made me just a little nervous.

Since I usually work until 6 or 6:30 every day, Colton will sometimes pick her up on his way home so she doesn't have to be the last kid there all the time.  He text me one day after they got home and said "we're eating tookies (how Korbyn says it) mom"
And her absolute favorite thing is to crawl into bed with Colton in the evenings and watch Umizoomis or Dora.  They are so cute together!

I do it!

Korbyn has become a two year old overnight!  She is extremely independent and wants to do everything herself and then if she can't she'll tell you "help."  In fact, her new favorite phrase is "I do it!"

Well this tells you how long it takes me to post something.  We converted her crib to a toddler bed during the July 4th weekend.  She loves it, she thought it was the neatest thing that she can now get in and out of her bed all by herself.  I've only caught her out of it a couple of times, but as soon as I catch her she laughs and runs back into it.  Amazingly she hasn't fallen out of it yet.  And as you can see she had to do exactly what daddy was doing.  She loved getting the screw driver and pretend she was really helping him!

She's getting into that "dramatic play" stage where she really enjoys doing actual tasks.  Her new favorite thing is to put her baby in the bath with her and she does everything to it that I do to her.  After I brush Korbyn's teeth she'll brush her baby's.  After I was her hair then she'll wash her baby's etc.

And these are the infamous "Korbyn daggers."  She can give such a scary little look sometimes!

Mamma's new ride

When I began job hunting we were in the debate of getting rid of our tahoe or keeping it.  We decided that if I had to end up commuting that we would definitely get rid of it because the gas mileage isn't great but if I stayed around Giddings then we would replace the tires and just keep it.  The tires were in such bad shape.  In fact, a couple of weeks ago I had a nail in one of them and Walmart wouldn't even patch it because they said the tires were in too bad of shape...ok, I got the hint.

Once I knew I was going to be working in Giddings we decided to replace the tires and keep it.  But instead of just putting the same tires on it, we put a lift on it and put the tires that Colton had on his truck and he got brand new ones.  So we went to Discount Tire and waited for them to take the old ones off and put the new ones on his truck.  Korbyn was being such a rascal there!
Of course in the pictures she looks like a little angel, but I even had to take her into the restroom and spank her while we were there.  She is really becoming quite the two year old!
When they first put the lift and tires on I felt a little ridiculous.  I felt like a kid.  But I absolutely love my car now!  It just makes it so much more fun to drive.  Looks like I'll be keeping it until the wheels fall of!

Sleepyhead

Last Tuesday I was scheduled to work a half day.  It was so nice because we've been getting to the daycare around 7 or 7:30 and not leaving until 6:30 for the past four weeks every single day, needless to say I'm completely exhausted and apparently so is Korbyn.

It was about 10:30 a.m. when I was putting my makeup on and getting dressed when I realized that I hadn't heard Korbyn in a while.  The last time I saw her I gave her a snack and she was watching cartoons in the living room.  So I yell her name...nothing.  Usually I can hear her pitter patter towards me when I call her.   As I'm walking towards the living room I start to expect the worst.  I'm thinking "oh my God I'm going to walk in and she's going to be laying there unconscious or something!"  I go in the living room, no Korbyn.  I panic.  I know I didn't open the front door and I know she can't open it yet so I knew she wasn't outside.  Our house isn't very big, but I barge into every room yelling her name and she is nowhere to be found.  I finally make it to her bedroom and this is what I find!

I have to put my hand over my mouth to stop from laughing.  The poor thing was so exhausted that she climbed into her bed and had put herself to sleep!

Girl time...with daddy

On a lazy Sunday afternoon I was paying bills etc. and Colton yelled down the hall if he could paint Korbyn's nails.  I giggled and said sure!  I was busy, I was not paying attention to what he was showing me when he was asking if this is what he should use.  He said "this pink covergirl stuff?"  I knew I had pink covergirl nail polish so without looking I just hollered back a "yes!"  They were both so proud when her nails were all painted.  She came and sat in my lap and wanted to show me her "petty" nails.  So I'm snapping pictures of her and in the meantime she's trying to shove something in my face and saying "open!"  I finally look at what she's trying to show me and I about fall out of my chair laughing!!!

She's holding a tube of pink covergirl LIP GLOSS!  Daddy had painted her fingernails and toenails with pink lip gloss!  And the funniest part was that he didn't even know what it was, he thought that's what he was supposed to use!
So we all had a good laugh and then I put petty lip gloss on Korbyn.
He still wanted to paint them, so I showed him where the actual nail polish was.  It was so cute.  I laid a towel down in the living room and she sat so still so he could paint them.
Then daddy had to show her how to let them dry.  He showed her how to blow on her nails and to wave them in the air to dry.
She was even walking around on her heels and with her hands fanned out.  Absolutely priceless!

Back at MLLC

I found a job!!!  I'm back at Martin Luther as the Director...I'm not sure if I've come to the realization that I've totally lost my mind, but I'm sure I'll realize it soon.

I took a shot at my pride and picked up the phone one afternoon and called the board president.  I told her that I was still job hunting and I know that their director just quit, stepped down really, she's now my assistant.  The board was a little hesitant to bring me back just because I had quit once already (now.. if I quit, others have quit before me, and this one just quit you would think that people would start realizing what a stressful job this is!) which they were completely entitled to.  It was a big leap of faith for them hiring me back because I had quit AND I gave them a piece of my mind when I pulled Korbyn out a month ago, but they also knew I know what I'm doing ;)

Last Tuesday was my first day back and you know the constant emotion I feel?  Excited!  I'm so surprised at how much I love this job.  I think it took me leaving to realize that I loved it this much.  Now of course any job is not 100% loveable at all times, this one definitely has it's down sides, especially right now.  They center is in a lot of trouble with state licensing right now, so I'm having to come in to A LOT.  But I can honestly say I enjoy waking up and getting to work at 7 and not leaving until 6, that sounds crazy right?!  Thankfully the board agreed to my offer of paying me a salary instead of hourly, although right now I would kill to have the overtime I would be on if hourly.  But I think it's fair on both sides.  I'm putting a lot of hours in right now but that's because I have to with everything that's going on with state.  And eventually I won't have to work those crazy hours but I'll still be getting paid.  For instance, I'm off today yet all I've done is work!  And the free child care doesn't hurt either ;)

This is the main reason I love this job.  The kids are amazing.  It felt so good when I walked into the baby room on the first day and one of the little girls who is about 9 months just couldn't crawl to me fast enough!  She actually missed me!

We'll see how it goes, as of now I'm in it for the long haul.  But I can already feel a difference in my body at how stressed I'm getting.  And it's not all stress, it's just the constant gear turning in my head that never stops!

Sea World

A couple of weeks ago we went to Sea World with some friends.  I was nervous because I knew Colton wouldn't be able to take off of work to go (we went on a Monday) and she was still very new at pottying.  All the way to San Antonio her and Cutter played with each other in the car and she closed her eyes and fell asleep as soon as we hit the exit for Sea World!  So she caught a ten minute nap before we went in, I was really hoping she would sleep longer.
Our first stop was to watch Shamu.  We sat in the splash zone and got completely soaked!  The water was freezing and stunk really bad.  So we walked around the park wet (which was nice because it was SO hot) and I felt like I stunk all day from the water.
I didn't know how she would react to the animals since she's only had the one zoo experience before this.  She loved watching all the animals!  I was really surprised at how much she reacted to everything.  She would even watch the shows the entire time.

The Azul show was my absolute favorite!  The had divers, parrots, dolphins, and acrobats all rolled into one show, it was amazing.
She would even look up into the rafters and wait for the divers to dive down.
Then we got a picture with some of the performers, Korbyn was clinging to my shirt because she was so nervous of the crazy man standing next to her!
Even when we went to the aquariums she was so happy to watch all the fish. I'm also really proud of her for only having ONE accident the entire day, and it was kind of my fault.  I toted around her potty seat in the backpack I was wearing and she would tell me "tee tee" all throughout the park.  Well when we were headed out of the park into the parking lot we made one last stop at the bathroom, then we got in the truck.  About 15 minutes after we went to the potty she was saying "tee tee" while in her car seat.  I was thinking she was just wanting to get out.  Sure enough when we pull over a few minutes later the poor thing had an accident in her car seat!  So I'll take the blame for that one because technically she did tell me she had to go.

I paid an extra $10 for a season pass and hopefully we can come back on a weekend where daddy can join us and when it won't be so hot because now I know that this girl loves Sea World!
